The South African and British description of biscuits differs from the American biscuits which I would describe as rolls. The biscuits that I refer to is what is cookies (the edible kind) here in America.
These custard powder biscuits are so very delicious, it is hard to stop eating them. It is also very easy to make. These biscuits were also one of my early ventures into baking. I learned this recipe from a book I purchased over 30 years ago that has egg-less recipes, created by Radha Soami Satsang Beas
Here in America I have only found custard powder in the Asian food stores. If you do not find custard powder a good substitute is cornflour. For the color and flavor of custard, use a pinch of yellow food color and a teaspoon of vanilla essence.
